These two water quality probes have been placed in Lake Trafford. These are YSI 6000 series data sondes with capability to measure pH, conductivity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and chlorophyll. (Click thumbnails to enlarge) The YSI probes are placed in an 8" diameter PVC pipe mounted under the pier. One of the PVC pipes will have flotation to keep the probe near the surface. The other will be mounted near the bottom. Roger McGill was master of installation. (Click thumbnails to enlarge) The YSI probes are connected to a Campbell Scientific datalogger and telemetry radio, which are located in a standard CS enclosure. The antenna is mounted inconspicuously under the pier. A solar panel may be placed on the roof of the pier, but currently a rechargeable battery in located inside the box. (Click thumbnails to enlarge) The white box is placed inside a 3/16" steel box. The box is bolted to the pier using 7/16 lag bolts. The box has sheltered locks to reduce vandalism.
