Vegetable Variety Testing Program
Evaluate yield and horticultural characteristics of radish varieties for the Florida Industry
Florida radishes are available from October through June and have a characteristics juicy, crisp texture and an earthy, spicy, and peppery taste. Currently, growers rely on non-hybrid radish varieties as a standard production practice, which in general produces low yield and quality. Therefore, variety trials that evaluate hybrid and non-hybrid radish varieties may be very helpful to Florida growers. In the fall of 2009 21 hybrid and non-hybrid radish varieties were evaluated by the Vegetable Horticulture Program.
