Vegetable Variety Testing Program
Evaluate yield and horticultural characteristics of broccoli varieties for the Florida Industry
Currently, nationally produced broccoli is mainly grown in the western U.S. However, the development of broccoli production systems in the eastern U.S. that are closer to their markets would contribute to economic sustainability for growers and wider availability of fresher produce and reduced cost for consumers. The Variety Evaluation Program aims to aid on increasing Florida’s share of the broccoli market for the eastern U.S. For that, the evaluation of appropriate broccoli varieties, selected for hot and humid conditions that will produce acceptable head quality is essential.
