The 16th Annual Florida Cattlemen's Institute and Allied Trade Show (FCIATS) will be held at the Kissimmee Valley Agricultural Center on January 21. 1999. This program is sponsored by the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Cooperative Extension Service and the Allied Industries. This year's theme is "Controlling the Cost of Production Through Better Management". Informational sessions will be held on trends in the animal industry, cost of production in a forage based system, grazing management, matching the cow to your forage, health, and computer programs available for use by cattlemen. The target audience for this forum is cattlemen and people interested in the beef cattle industry. Vendors will be on site to display and demonstrate beef cattle industry products currently available. The program features several speakers from around the United States. Dr. Harlan Ritchie of Michigan State University who will discuss emerging trends in the beef cattle and meat industries. Alan Nation, editor of the Stockman Grass Farmer, will share ideas for reducing feed costs with grazing management. Dr. Sally Dolezal of Oklahoma State University will discuss ways of using genetic selection to lower production costs. Please call your County Agent ) if you plan to attend.
